Dhanu to do Vijay- AR Murugadoss’s Thuppaki

Kalaipuli s Dhanu, the happening producer in Tamil cinema, known for his grand ventures is all set to produce Vijay starrer next.

Sources say that the movie to be directed by A R Murugadoss starring Vijay will have Kajal Agarwal as the heroine. S A Chandrasekhar, Vijay's father was all set to produce the movie. But he backed out at the last moment.

However sources now say that Dhanu has taken up the mantle of producing the movie. Sources say that the movie would go to floors in Mumbai later this month.

"Sholay" to be remade in Tamil????

These days Vijay and Ajith fans seem to get closer. It is because both the actors are showing good bond between them at various occasions. Now the news is that some big wig producers are planning to rope Vijay and Ajith the top two actors in the remake of yesteryear blockbuster Sholay starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra along with Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan in the female lead.

Jai and Veeru (the heroes) are very close friends who robs to live their life. At one point a police officer catches and jails them. One day the police officer makes a deal, to kill the most dreaded goonda of his village Gabbar (Amjad). These two eventually accept the offer and how they eliminate Gabbar in the end is the story.

If this becomes true then this will be big comeback for the Ajith and Vijay combo after 16 long years. Their last combo was seen in the 1995 film Rajavin parvaiyilae.

Vijay turns spy for Yohan Adhyayam Ondru

Vijay’s Velayudham is rocking. After Velayudham, Vijay is busy in shooting of Yohan Adhyayam Ondru. In Velayudham Vijay was seen in the role of milkman-turned-vigilante. The actor, who has received a good response from the critics as well as audience, is gearing up to don yet another new avatar.

Vijay he who signed Gautham Menon'sYohan: Adhyayam Ondru a few months ago, will be enacting the role of James Bond in the forthcoming Tamil movie.

According to sources, Yohan is inspired by James Bond films. Vijay will be performing the role of a spy, says a source. Vijay, a James Bond in 'Yohan'............

Gautham Vasudev Menon is doing four projects at a time - 'Neethane En Ponvasantham', which he is simultaneously making in three languages (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi), and the Hindi remake of 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya', titled 'Ek Dhivana Dha'.

After completing these films, he will move on to 'Yohan Adhyayam Ondru', his first venture with Vijay. "Some rumour mills have it that Gautham is toying with the idea of coming out with a movie every two years in this series, like Yohan Adhyayam Irandu and Yohan Adhyayam Moondru but the director has remained tight-lipped about these.

"Vijay plays an international agent in this flick," Gautham says and adds: "Yohan Adhyayam Ondru will deal with one of the assignments he does in a foreign country. It will chronicle two months of the protagonist's life."

On what made him to join hands with the Ilayathalapathy, Gautham says, "We both wanted to work together for a long time, but things didn't take shape.  This time we were sure not to miss the opportunity and made an announcement on Yohan."

Vijay on Velayudam's success.....

Thrilled at the bumper opening for his Deepavali release Velayudham, actor Vijay chose to thank his fans, well-wishers and cast and crew of the movie.

Speaking at the success meet held in Chennai on Friday, Vijay said, 'the movie was a wholesome entertainer and I thoroughly enjoyed doing it'.

Director M Raja and producer Aascar V Ravichandran contributed their best and the movie has now made it big.

To a query on whether he was following the MGR formula in his movies, he said, 'it is a success formula and there is no wrong in following it. Everyone would love to go that way'.

He said Velayudham occupies a special place in my heart. The whole unit worked very hard and the result is there to be seen on the screen.

On his forthcoming films, he said, 'My Nanban will release for Pongal. It would be followed by a movie with Gautham Menon. Regarding Murugadoss' film, an official announcement will be made soon'.

Vijay's favourite dialogue in 'Velayudham'

'Velayudham', as claimed by Vijay and director 'Jayam' M Raja, is a full-fledged commercial entertainer, which would portray the Ilayathalapathy as a super hero. So there is no escaping from punch dialogues, which are aimed at enthusing the masses.

When asked Vijay as to what his favourite punch line in the film is, he said, "There is a particular scene in which I would say at a baddie 'Chummavey kaattu kaattu nu kaattuven, nee vera kaattu kaattunu solra... kaataati nallava irukkum.' I liked these lines very much."

Explaining the reason, the actor said, "I loved doing this scene and uttering the dialogue since it suited to my nature and attitude. I am hopeful that my fans would enjoy it too. The entire film will be a complete Diwali treat to them and I am sure about it."

Produced by Aascar V Ravichandran, 'Velayudham' is releasing in a record number of theatres on Wednesday. "Raja has shaped up the film in such a way that it would make the audience think. It is not just a masala movie, but a good film with an important message."

Gautham Menon speaks about Vijay's "Yohan Athiyayam Ondru"

Gautham Menon is busy completing the shooting of Nee Thanae En Ponvasantham starring Jeeva and Samantha. Soon he would start Yohan Athiyayam Ondru.

Throwing light on the movie, he says, 'it is an international film with a international theme. Vijay and I were planning to come together for a long time and it eventually worked out now'.

It would be a different film and Vijay plays an international agent. So impressed with the storyline that Rahman immediately composed tunes for the movie, he adds.

Asked about the title, he says, ' we titled it as Yohan Athiyayam Ondru for we have plans to start a sequel sometime later for it'.

When is 'Nanban' music launch?

Now that director Shankar has confirmed on his blog that the shoot of his forthcoming film 'Nanban' is 100 per cent complete and the Vijay-Jiiva-Srikanth starrer would make it to cinema halls for Pongal, a guessing game is on as to when would be the film's audio will release.

When we probed, inside sources expressed that a mega music launch function is being planned in Chennai by the last week of November. "It will be a grand show in which top guns of Tamil cinema will mark their presence. Cultural programs will also be there," they said.

"Harris Jayaraj, who had earlier worked with Shankar in 'Anniyan', has come out with beautiful songs. All the songs in the film have the quality to emerge chartbusters, as they are composed in such a way that it would strike an instant chord among the youngsters," they added.

Produced by Gemini Film Circuit, 'Nanban', a remake of Hindi hit '3 Idiots’, is currently in its post production stage. Shankar, known for crafting his films with the precision of a goldsmith, is said to be working overtime for 'Nanban', for this is his first remake project.

Vijay's most daring stunts till date in 'Velayudham'!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's fans are waiting with baited breadth for the release of their thalaivar's 'Velayudham'. Reported to be the costliest ever Vijay starrer, the movie produced by Aascar Ravichandran has few never seen before high-octane stunt sequences choreographed by Hollywood stunt master Tom Delmar.

Tom has worked in some of the Hollywood action films like 'Aliens', 'Snatch' and '102 Dalmatians' among others. The highlight includes a hair rising on-top of the train action block. Apart from which, Vijay in an interview with media recently expressed about another power-packed stunt, a fight shot inside the Chennai harbor.

Now the hot news is that Vijay has performed some of the highly risky stunts without a body double! The train fight was shot for 11 days in Vizag with Vijay taking on the baddie Abhimanyu Singh of 'Rakta Charitra' fame who is making his Tamil debut.

Tom who was literally astonished with the way Vijay works says, "His energy levels are very high. Some of the fight scenes designed was very tough and dangerous and I and director Raja insisted that we use a substitute. But Vijay was very adamant that he would do it by himself and used to rehearse for hours together. He is so dedicated that he wouldn't mind performing more takes till he gets perfection".

Vijay Speaks On 'Velayudham' & Its Highlights

As ‘Velayudham’ is gearing up for a Diwali release and the team is running from pillar to post as part of the promotional activities, IG caught up with Ilayathalapathy Vijay for an interview. Read on as Vijay gets candid and speaks on his role in Velayudham, clarifies reports on the much talked about Dookudu remake, his project with AL Vijay, his plans this Diwali and a lot more!

Excerpts from the chat with the ace personality…

How did this film with Jayam Raja happen?

I have watched all his films and I was supposed to work with him two years back itself under Sanguli Murugan sir’s banner. We missed out on it and he started off a project with his brother, Jayam Ravi. Then we met one day and he came with a one-liner on Velayudham which interested me so we started off with this project immediately. I asked him jokingly whether he will do movies only with his brother and not me and that’s how all this started off.

This is a commercial entertainer and you have delivered many time and again. But this is your first part superhero project, what’s special about it? What about the horse riding scenes?

Yes but this is not a superhero film with extra powers for the hero or something on those lines. 'Velayudham' portrays the hero somewhere between a common man and a superhero. Speaking on horse riding, actually I learnt horse riding quite a while ago, even before stepping into films. All the training is being of use to me now (smiles).

Most of your films highlight upon brother – sister bonding, but can we say your bond with Saranya forms the crux of this plot as she has reported in an interview?

No it definitely is not the crux of the film but can be called as one of the highlights in 'Velayudham'. No matter what, be it now or after many years, this is one relationship among our folk that will never change! It’s an evergreen something.

Speaking on stunts, are there other highlights apart from the train stunt sequence?

Tom Delmar did the train sequence and yes, much has been spoken about it to audiences already. Apart from this there’s a fight scene in a harbor which will definitely be a big highlight in 'Velayudham', I can assure it will be something very interesting to look forward to and something my fans will enjoy watching on-screen.

How true is it that there are 30 comedians?

Well, I can say that under Santhanam’s captainship there will 29 comedians. There’s a whole team of comedians itself that he heads so we have meant it in that way.

All your forthcoming films are with top-notch directors, Murugadoss, Gautham Menon and Shankar. We understand we'll be seeing a suave avatar of Vijay, but why haven't we seen this earlier?

To tell the truth, honestly, I have been approached by all these directors only now and I loved the scripts so I accepted them. It is not like I wanted to do these kind of films only now but these projects are coming my way only now and I am happy to accept them.

Are you doing Dookudu remake?

I watched the film, I really liked and enjoyed watching it but I am not doing the film’s Tamil remake.

Udhaynidhi has expressed he’ll watch 'Velayudham' first show. When will you watch '7aum Arivu'?

I will definitely watch it on Diwali, no doubts about that but I don’t know which show. I will watch '7aum Arivu', my film 'Velayudham' and 'Ra.One' on Diwali. How many ever films will release that day I will watch them all the very same day, no doubts. That’s how crazy I am about films (smiles).

No doubts we see a balance between Hansika & Genelia in trailers, but can you tell what will be the highlight?

The director has beautifully balanced between Hansika and Genelia’s character. There’s no way anyone can compare their characters since they are so different from one another. My scenes with both of them are like two different episodes to frame it rightly. However I must say that Genelia’s character plays a key role in my character seeing a change in the film, from that of a commoner to that of a superhero.

About your film with AL Vijay…

Yes we both are talking about it but it will take time, probably even two more years to go on floors! But there’s a lot of time for an official announcement on this front.

A recent Tamil film that Vijay enjoyed thoroughly…

'Kanchana'! My kids enjoyed this horror film so very much that when I’m home they’ll be enacting the scenes from the film to me!

'Velayudham' releasing big, over 820 prints!!!!

'Velayudham', the most awaited flick of Ilayathalapathy Vijay is hitting worldwide cinema halls on this Diwali with ' hold your breath - over 820 screens!

Produced by Aascar Ravichandran, Vijay has two gorgeous lead ladies - Hansika and Genelia. Directed by Jayam Raja who is known for commercial dramas that cater to family audiences, according to its producer, the movie will be released with record number of prints in Kerala and Karnataka. It may be mentioned that Vijay has a huge fan following in the God's Own Country as well as in Karnataka.

  

 "Velayudham is screened in more than 120 theaters in Kerala and roughly about 100 theatres in Karnataka", says Ravichandran.

"Velayudham focuses on important social issues besides being packaged with the signature style of mass masala elements intact which is usually associated with a Vijay film", says an inside source.

Aascar Ravi also clarified that 'Velayudham' will be releasing in as many as 40 theaters in the city ruling out the rumour that it is screened in less number of screens.

Vijay in Bangalore.......

Ilayathalapathy Vijay rocked Bangalore on Saturday, as he was there to launch the trailer of his forthcoming film 'Velayudham' and also to attend the inaugural ceremony of a jewellery store of which he is the brand ambassador.

Addressing thousands of his fans at a cinema hall, where two trailers of the film were screened, Vijay said: "I have come here many times, including during the launch of Kannada film 'Jogayya', which was my friend Shivaraj Kumar's hundredth film. I am very fond of my fans in Karnataka."

"The way I was received here was exactly the way I am received in the theatres in Tamil Nadu. And I must say that right from my first film, I have received tremendous support from the audience here. It's a great moment," he further added.

"You have already given thumbs up for the audio of the film. I hope you would like the movie also," he said amid cheers, adding: "Velayudham is a special film for me. It is one film which is focused on an issue besides being packaged with commercial elements."

Vijay’s Velayutham – hit the screens on October 25....

Velayudham - Vijay against 15 villains

 Velayudham' is going to be special for Vijay and his fans for more than one reason. The costliest ever Vijay-starrer, the film directed by 'Jayam' M Raja has 15 villains to cross swords with the Ilayathalapathy. And three of them are from Bollywood.

"The three north Indian actors who would play baddies in Velayudham are Sayaji Shinde, Vineet Kumar and Abhimanyu Singh of Rakhta Charitram fame. Though there are 15 villains, every one of them will have their own space," say sources in the know.

Select members of the cast and crew of 'Velayudham', including Vijay and heroines Genelia D'Souza and Hansika Motwani, are currently camping in Srinagar to shoot a song ('Molachu moonu ilai...').

AR Murugadoss with Vijay after Diwali Starts

With two big tasks before AR Murugadoss getting completed by this month, the director is expected to start his next film soon, for which he would join hands with Ilayathalapathy Vijay for the first time.

"Murugadoss's maiden production venture Engeyum Eppodhum is seeing the light of the day on September 16. Six days after that, the much awaited audio launch of his 7aam Arivu will take place on September 22," sources say.

Though the Suriya-starrer is scheduled to release in the last week of October for Deepavali, the director will be technically free from September last week itself. So he would start the Vijay-starrer in October for sure, they add.

Meanwhile, Murugadoss has started aggressive promotion campaigns for 'Engeyum Eppodhum', which is produced by him by joining hands with Hollywood giant Fox Star. Directed by his former associate Saravanan, the film has Jai, Anjali, Sharvanand and Ananya in lead roles.

Velayudham - Vijay against Corruption

We all know that Vijay is playing the role of a milkman in Velayudham but little less we know about his other avatar. The movie, which is against corruption, shows the actor as a vigilante.

Sources close to the production house claim that Vijay will have simple looks in the milkman's role, which is set in village. But his character will completely change, when he comes to city .

Director Jayam Raja says that,” Velayudham is a different from other vigilante movies like Indian and Anniyan. The film-maker feels that he has done the movie in his own style and the audience will surely like the story of this messiah of the society”.

The movie produced by Venu Ravichandran is made with the budget of Rs. 45 crore.
