Vikram's 'Rajapattai' - A galance

 'Rajapattai' is a strong hero-oriented subject where Vikram plays a gym instructor. He has of course also gone in for a makeover getting into the skin of his character with a toned up body. Deeksha Seth plays his love interests in the film which is touted to spring a lot of surprises. It is directed by Suseenthiran of 'Nan Mahan Alla' and 'Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai' fame. But the role has some interesting characteristics, which is hitherto unknown.

Vikram's name in the film is Anal Murugan, who is not just a gym instructor, but also a stunt man in movies. His sole aim in life is to make it big in the film industry as a villain artiste. He has a loving grandfather too (Viswanath)

Says director Suseenthiran, "These days we read in newspapers on incidents of land grabbing and the police action on the wrong-doers. This is the basic knot of Rajapattai. Vikram will be seen in a pucca action role."

He says, "It is a constant decision by me and Vikram to make a commercial movie on the lines of Dhil, Dhool and Saami. The Chiyaan’s fans will be awestruck to see their favourite role in a full-fledged masala role after a long gap."

Mankatha made history along overseas

Mankatha, Ajith’s 50th movie made history in collection not only in India but also in United Kingdom. In Chennai Mankatha was released in 85 theaters, it’s totally of 350 prints.

In overseas, Mankatha masses... Yes, Mankatha is creating a buzz in the state as it had the second highest opening post Rajinikanth's Enthiran. The latest buzz is that the film has collected Rs. 81.72 lakhs in its opening weekend in United Kingdom.

Mankatha is an action thriller which narrates the story of match-fixing sagas in international cricket matches. Arjun plays the role of an investigative officer officer who takes up the task of exposing the bookies. Thala Ajith plays the role of a cop-cum-gambler. 

Rana: Camera rolls on October 3

Rajinikanth’s fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Rana. The camera is not yet start roll. The shooting for the movie was postponed because of Rajinikanth’s health condition.

According to latest reports, the shooting of superstar Rajinikanth's much awaited Rana, will resume on October 3, 2011. Rajinikanth returned home recently after spending nearly seven weeks in Singapore for treatment of kidney-related ailments.

Rana is directed by K.S. Ravikumar and the film is jointly produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth and Eros International. Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood and Ganja Karuppu will also play prominent roles in the film.

Hoping Rana will hit the screen soon and fulfill the expectation of fans. 

Rajinikanth dupe to work overtime for Rana!!!!!!!?????

When Shankar narrated Robo story to Rajinikanth, the Superstar raised a genuine doubt by asking him if he could pull off that Robot character! Shankar smiled and said 'I will take care of it'. Shankar simply spent some extra money in making exact face masks of Rajinikanth and canned the action blocks and dance sequences using a dupe.

In Robo more than thirty percent of scenes were shot using Rajini's dupe. But no one complained as they got their money's worth. Taking a cue out of it, Rajinikanth is planning to use dupes for his next film Rana.

Rajinikanth who is just out from hospital after recovering from a serious illness, is not in a state to do dances and fights. Rajini should be 100 percent healthy to do Rana film which demands so much physical strain. So, Rajini and the makers of Rana decided to hire a close looking dupe and use face masks to shoot the key episodes.

7aam Arivu - Chinese Song

As time is ticking closer to September 22, the day when the audio album of AR Murugadoss-Suriya starrer teamed with Harris Jayaraj's music is about to hit stands, comes more tidbits on the most expected Suriya film of the year.

Set to tunes by Harris Jayaraj, the music track of '7 Am Arivu' has six song tracks of which one is a Chinese song, which appears during the part Suriya plays as a Chinese monk. This song interestingly was penned by Madhan Karky in Chinese. The lyric writer incidentally, while his stay overseas, had also learnt a bit of Chinese.

This Chinese number is crooned by a girl child who was specially flown down for this purpose from Singapore. The song, in the film, portrays an awe-struck Chinese girl, describing a man from India, singing about his heroism. For this song the crew flew to China and re-created a set with props similar to a 6th century Chinese village. The song sees Suriya performing along with more than 1000 artists from China.

The film sees Suriya and Shruti Haasan playing the leads and is produced by Red Giant Movies. Every detail of this Murugadoss magnum opus is creating a lot of expectations in the audience's minds, and '7 Am Arivu' is gearing up to hit theatres across the globe for Diwali.

Vikram's 'Karikalan' - Scripts done by???????

Missing screenplay credits in the 'Karikalan' posters has brought about confusion as one wondered of who penned it for this Vikram's forthcoming period film and tinsel town birdies expressed that credits weren't given to the person who penned the screenplay!

It is now revealed by a leading daily that the entire script of the film was penned by Gandhi Krishna of 'Chellame' fame. Gandhi Krishna and Kannan met almost a year back and when Gandhi Krishna showed a one-liner script to Kannan, the latter was impressed and Gandhi Krishna went ahead with penning the synopsis. He also wrote the shooting script, meaning one with camera angles, locale information and other details.

Sources in the know further added that after working on the script for more than eight months, he gave the script to Kannan who is now filming it with Chiyaan Vikram.

Speaking on this Kannan expressed, "I'm a debutant director and just like any fresher, I consulted a senior director, Gandhi Krishna. Yes, he gave me some suggestions. But the story has been developed by me!"

'Karikalan' features Vikram, Zarine Khan, Mitra Kurien and Radhika Apte and is about a man who strived and built a dam, a unique venture back those days.

Another remake in the offing for STR – Delhi Belly in Tamil ?

As the ongoing project Osthi is on completion stage, we still remember that it is the remake of Hindi Dabanng which featured Salman Khan. Now STR is on the verge of showing his muscles to another remake of a popular movie Delhi Belly promoted by Aamir Khan. 

With much controversy looming on this movie, there are talks of remake for which STR seems to have given his nod. However, the movie will undergo certain changes to suit the nativity, as needed for every remake.

Since the cultural differences still persist over the North- South distinction, the language employed by Aamir Khan will certainly be scrapped for the Tamil version. While the Hindi version has the cast including Vir Das, Imran Khan, Kunak Roy Kapoor along with Aamir clamping his person in an item song. 

The information is almost on confirmation stage from Aamir who could not reveal the production banner. In the event of Tamil version, some popular hero has to take up the role of Aamir for that item which should peak the excellence.

Vedi to burst before Diwali!!

We all know that people will rejoice bursting crackers for Deepavali amidst the festival joy. Now for the Tamil audience, Prabhu Deva’s Vedi is getting ready much before its Deepavali schedule. The film features Vishal and Sameera Reddy in the lead roles.

Vishal’s home banner is producing it and his brother’s wife Shreya Krishna looks after production. Vijay Anthony has compiled songs which were released yesterday. Some sources claimed that the movie will be based on the Telugu Souryam but Prabu Deva cleared the clouds that there are sure changes over the Telugu film.

He said there is a mission from the hero for a search over the lost thing and the events that follow to trace it are the sequences of the movie

Billa 2 goes Avatar way............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After the great success of Mankatha ,  Ajith Kumar is busy in his schedule with Billa 2. Billa 2  is getting bigger and better. The movie, which has completed its first schedule of shooting, is being made with some of the best technicians of India to give a rich look for Billa 2.

Cinematographer RD Rajasekhar, who is working with Ajith Kumar after nine years, has shot the first schedule of the shooting in a high-resolution camera. The interesting part is that Billa 2 is said to be the first Asian film to be shot in an 'epic' camera, which are mainly used to shoot snorkelling, surfing, boating, shallow dives, and any other situation where a camera could come in contact with water.

Earlier, Hollywood movie Avatar was filmed in 'epic' camera. Following that method the film maker decided to shoot Billa 2 with Epic camera.

Sources says that ,”They want to the movie to be in the international standards “.

Changes in Script of RANA

Certain changes are being made to the original script of 'Rana' considering the health condition of Superstar Rajinikanth, who recently underwent treatment for kidney related ailment at a Singapore hospital.

This has been confirmed by lyricist Vairamuthu, who called on the top actor recently at Sri Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in Kodambakkam. "I was so happy to meet Rajini after a gap," he says.

Vairamuthu adds: "Rajini is perfectly alright. And he is in a very good mood, cracking jokes and analyzing things in his own style. But still, some minor changes are being made to Rana as director KS Ravikumar is not ready to give any strain to the Superstar."

"We discussed many issues in the meeting that lasted for 45 minutes. The topics we covered including literature, politics, philosophy and life. Rajini is happy with the care and concern showered on him by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, DMK president M Karunanidhi and of course, his fans."

Velayudham - Vijay against Corruption

We all know that Vijay is playing the role of a milkman in Velayudham but little less we know about his other avatar. The movie, which is against corruption, shows the actor as a vigilante.

Sources close to the production house claim that Vijay will have simple looks in the milkman's role, which is set in village. But his character will completely change, when he comes to city .

Director Jayam Raja says that,” Velayudham is a different from other vigilante movies like Indian and Anniyan. The film-maker feels that he has done the movie in his own style and the audience will surely like the story of this messiah of the society”.

The movie produced by Venu Ravichandran is made with the budget of Rs. 45 crore.

Nanban - Status update...Almost over...

Ilayathalapathy fans are as happy as much as the actor is, what with two biggies taking shape and gearing up for a release, 'Velayudham' will see light of the day some time soon followed by 'Nanban' this Diwali.

Enthusing fans even more comes this update from Director Shankar, who wrote on his micro-blogging page that 'Nanban' is 98.8888% complete!


"We've successfully completed 98.8888% of Nanban, and the rest is one song and a quarter of another song, which will be shot in the first week of September. I feel Nanban has shaped up well in all aspects, but the highlight of the film will be its characters and excellent performances of the artists in it. It's going to be a treat watching Vijay, Jiiva, Sathyaraj, Srikanth, Ileana together", says the excited director.


Not just that, every scene that has been canned has been edited and dubbed till date!


Vijay threw a party for the completion of the film that brought together the cast and crew of the film, who had a gala time at the party. Shankar also expressed that he is working on the final edit of the film for the background score

On 'Nanban', Shankar said, "It is a light-hearted feel good film which is inspired by 3 Idiots. We have made certain changes to the script to make it strike a chord with Tamil audience. I enjoyed shooting for the movie."

Saying that everyone would love Vijay once the film is released, Shankar added: "Such was his character. I should also talk about Jiiva and Srikanth who have beautifully played their respective roles. All the three have made me to say 'all is well'."

'Race' to roll in Tamil with Ajith????????

'Race' a 2008 Bollywood super hit might see a remake in Tamil soon! Dhananjayan Govind of UTV expressed, "UTV is serious about remaking Race in Tamil and thanks to one of Ajith's fan's idea to make it with Ajith sir, let's hope we can crack this".

True to its title, 'Race' was a racy action thriller that boasted off an ensemble of star cast including Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif and showcased betrayal within a family, all for money. And now, the very word 'money' reminds one of Ajith after his spectacular performance as a baddie in 'Mankatha' and his go-getter attitude in the film, all for money.

It maybe mentioned that Ajith is currently busy with work on 'Billa 2' where he plays an underworld don, a prequel to his earlier success 'Billa'. His character as David in this film has a good dose of grey shades as well.

Looks like playing baddie works luck for Ajith for he pulls off a great villain. The team is yet to approach Ajith and the rest of the crew is yet to be zeroed on.
