Naga Chaitanya Bezawada day 1 collections are shocking

Director Ram Gopal Varma’s latest production Bezawada has opened to divide talk. The first day collections of the movie are quite decent in territories like Krishna, Guntur, and Vishakhapatnam. The film received very average collection in crucial Nizam and Ceded areas. As per reports, the film has collected Rs 2.18 crore on its opening day has brought smiles to its makers.

The film based on the local gang wars of Vijayawada was directed by Vivek Krishna. Amala Paul is the leading lady. The roles essayed by Mukul Dev and Abhimanyu Singh are said to be the highlights of the film.

Right now, the film is carrying below average talk and the trade pundits are predicting average first week collections across.

'Ra. One' - An 'above average' success

Biggest hype ever for an Indian film, a superstar at the helm of affairs, a director who is a master when it comes to technology, a budget that allowed dreams to take shape of reality, widest ever release and hit soundtrack - Still, at the end of it all, it boiled down to the moolah earned at the box office and frankly, it isn't close to what one would have envisaged before the film hit the screens.

Nothing less than 120 crores was on the cards for 'Ra. One' which also came with an advantage of 9 day long weekend. However after a healthy first five days, the film started sliding as the weekdays progressed. Call it an advent of a negative campaign or genuinely mixed word of mouth amongst the audience but the collections were hit for sure. Resultantly, the film (the Hindi version) couldn't touch the elusive 100 crore mark (which has been managed only once before - by 'Bodyguard') in its first week.

At close to 99 crores, the film enjoyed a relatively open week though numbers of shows were reduced by 30%-40%. A fall in collections is inevitable though given the trend so far and while the relatively low collections on the opening day pretty much killed the dream for this film to cross 200 crores total set by '3 Idiots', at least 'Bodyguard' collections of 140 crores were in sight. However as things stand today, it may just be touch and go for 'Ra. One' to even cross the 120 crores final net of 'Ready'.

Still, keeping all these factors aside, 'Ra. One' boils down to be a decent success at the least and is an above average affair at the box office. Of course one did expect it to be tagged as a hit but given the economics involved and the rapid decline it has taken, it would have to be content with a relatively lower status.

Out of the two other two releases of the week, 'Damadamm' too has managed to be a successful venture eventually. As per the makers, this low budget film has collected 3.7 crores in its extended week which has allowed it to be a recovery affair. Given the fact that expectations were extremely low from this Himesh Reshammiya starrer to be a commercial success, these collections have been face worthy. On the other hand 'Tell Me O Kkhuda' is a box office disaster as it couldn't garner even 2 crores at the end of its premature run.

AR Murugadoss’s 7am Arivu seems to lack expectations

Surya starrer 7am Arivu came out with huge expectations, but it got a mixed response from the audience. The film touched many unknown aspects of Tamil cinema like Bodhidharma, DNA etc…

We can appreciate the efforts put on this movie. But a director like A.R.Murugadoss who got high standards should have concentrated more on the Screenplay and Music of the film. Since he has got a Big team like Red Giant Movies, Harris Jeyaraj and others. But the concentration that he has showed on researching about Bodhidharma, leads to a lack in other functional areas of the film. It looks amateur for a director of his capacity, who gave Classic Hits like Ramana, Gajini, Dheena. Even his fans who expected a blockbuster finally sighed and felt letdown.

This movie may not be a great success, but let us hope that the next project of Murugadoss shapes out well and brings back his true identity.

Vijay's Velayudham Wins this Diwali

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Velayudham which came out with very low expectations actually shined this Diwali.

Reasons behind this team’s success are very few. The first reason is everyone’s eyes saw a Simple and Smart Vijay in this film. After Kaavalan, the actor seems to have chosen the right path it seems. His Portrayal was Believable; the stunts in this film are not lengthy and overdosed (except for a very few scenes).

Need to specially mention about the director of the film M.Raja, whose previous film was a disappointment. But he took care in shaping out Velayudham well and that’s the secret of success. Another highlight was Vijay Antony’s catchy music. 

Also as usually Santhanam maintains the pulse of the audience. Even thou Promotions for the movie is less when compared to the other Diwali releases, Velayudham emerges as the Silent Winner.

With good movies lined up, Vijay’s career seems to Rise to the Next Level.

Dookudu team in Party

With Dookudu opening to overwhelmingly positive talk, Mahesh Babu, Srinu Vaitla and the entire unit of the film are on a cloud nine.  They as much basked in the glory of the success by deciding to party together on the night of the 23rd.

Mahesh did not waste any moment to thank the audience on Twitter and announce his party plans yesterday.  Here is what a joyful Prince tweeted: "Dookudu has taken d biggest opening ever:)totally overwhelmed by d response....Love u guys....now off2 party with my dookudu team....gonna b a long night:):)  On behalf of d dookudu team I wud like to thank all u guys for giving us a blockbuster:):)  Its double celebration time....v r bringing in r super directors birthday as well:):)  2day has been unbelievable:):)"

The euphoria of Team Dookudu is quite understandable.  They have been flooded with umpteen congratulatory notes from who's who of the industry and the ordinary audience.  Dookudu is getting positive reviews as well.

Dookudu – Great Box Office Hit

Released in as many theatres across the world as you can imagine, Dookudu is creating a record of sorts in its collections.  Its first-day total netted an incredible Rs. 9.20 cr.  Without exceptions, Dookudu is making Box Office waves.

While Nizam area collections zoomed in on the first day, it was not far behind in breaking several records in the Godavari districts, Anantapur, Guntur (where it is said to have easily surpassed Magadheera's record), Krishna and Vishakapatnam.

Ticket counters went cling-a-cling in Chennai where it released in 15 screens, netting a total of Rs. 15.28 lakhs.  According to some trade sources, the film is doing a mind-blowing business internationally as well.

Together, the figures are put at over Rs. 9.20 crores - an unbelievable feat by any standards.  We may soon find a mega success function organized by the producers, sources aver.

Mankatha made history along overseas

Mankatha, Ajith’s 50th movie made history in collection not only in India but also in United Kingdom. In Chennai Mankatha was released in 85 theaters, it’s totally of 350 prints.

In overseas, Mankatha masses... Yes, Mankatha is creating a buzz in the state as it had the second highest opening post Rajinikanth's Enthiran. The latest buzz is that the film has collected Rs. 81.72 lakhs in its opening weekend in United Kingdom.

Mankatha is an action thriller which narrates the story of match-fixing sagas in international cricket matches. Arjun plays the role of an investigative officer officer who takes up the task of exposing the bookies. Thala Ajith plays the role of a cop-cum-gambler. 

'Mankatha', a massive hit in USA

Thala Ajith's 'Mankatha' has tasted success in USA as well, as all the shows were sold out on the very first day! It is also expected to fair well this weekend. In fact, Big Cinemas responded immediately by adding multiple shows due to high customer demand and the management from Big Cinemas expressed that they have never seen a response such as this since Superstar's 'Endhiran'!

The response from smaller centers such as Seattle, Phoenix, Charlotte, and Columbus had record breaking attendance during weekdays.

'Mankatha' with record openings than 'Robot'

Venkat Prabhu directed the prestigious 50th film of Ultimate Star Ajit, with the title 'Mankatha'. There was a gossip that Nagarjuna was asked to play cameo in the film, but he could not adjust the dates due to his pre-occupation with other projects. Arjun replaced Nagarjuna in the role. Trisha paired up with the hero.

The Tamil version was produced by Dayanidhi Azhagiri on the banner of Cloud Nine Movies. As Ajit is a known face in Telugu with films like 'Prema Lekha' and other such films, Multi- Dimension Films bought the dubbing rights of the prestigious film and started the dubbing and other post-production works in Telugu.

Though earlier it was planned to release the film simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, the Tamil version of the film had hit the screens on August 31.

Surprisingly, the film was proved a biggest hit and reportedly had the highest openings in Tamil which surpassed the records of Tamil Super Star Rajanikanth's 'Robot'.

Let us hope Ajit would repeat the same magic in Telugu, as dubbed films are ruling the roost in Telugu these days.

Viswaroopam – Gets its Villain

After initial glitches in the form of the director of the film walking out (Selvaraghavan) followed by the heroine (Sonakshi Sinha) repeating a similar act, the film seems to be treading on the right track now. With Kamal Haasan taking the reigns of this project forward the actors are being finalized for the characters they will play in the film. While grapevine is abuzz that Anushka Shetty plays the female lead, the other important characters are getting finalized as well. For one, it will be Rahul Bose who will be launching in to the Tamil film industry with 'Viswaroopam.' He is touted to be Kamal's villain in the film. Sources close to him have revealed that he has grown a beard for the required look in this Kamal project and is quite eager to share screen space with Kamal Haasan. Most of Kamal's villains have carved a niche for themselves; it is just a matter of time to see what is in store for the actor from Paschim Banga down in Kollywood!

"I am Sam" remade as "Deiva Thirumagal"

  

I Am Sam is a 2001 American drama film written and directed by Jessie Nelson, and starring Sean Penn as a father with a developmental disability, Dakota Fanning as his inquisitive seven-year-old daughter, and Michelle Pfeiffer as his lawyer. Dianne Wiest, Loretta Devine, Richard Schiff and Laura Dern appear in supporting roles.

Plot: 

Sam Dawson (Sean Penn), a man with a developmental disability, is the father of Lucy (Dakota Fanning), after her mother abandoned them. Despite his limitations, Sam is well-adjusted and has a supportive group of friends with developmental disabilities, as well as a kind, agoraphobic neighbor Annie (Dianne Wiest) who takes care of Lucy when Sam cannot. Though Sam provides a loving and caring environment for precocious Lucy, she soon surpasses his mental ability. Other children tease her for having a "retard" as a father, and she becomes too embarrassed to accept that she is more intellectually advanced than Sam. In preparation for a custody case, a social worker turns up at Lucy's birthday party and takes her away, allowing Sam two supervised visits per week.

On the advice of his friends, Sam approaches a high-powered lawyer, Rita Harrison (Michelle Pfeiffer), whose brusque manner, fast-paced schedule and difficult personal life have earned her a reputation as cold and unfeeling. In an attempt to prove to others that she isn't heartless, Rita surprisingly agrees to take on Sam's case pro bono. As they work together to secure Sam's parental rights, Sam unwittingly helps Rita with her family problems, including encouraging her to leave her philandering husband and repairing her fractious relationship with her son.

During the trial period, Lucy resides in a foster home with Randy Carpenter (Laura Dern), but tries to convince Sam to help her run away, and continually escapes in the middle of the night to go to Sam's apartment, whereupon he immediately returns her. At the trial, Sam breaks down after opposing counsel convinces him that he is not capable of being a father. Ultimately, the foster family who planned to adopt Lucy decide to return her to Sam, with an arrangement that Randy will help him raise her.

The final scene depicts a soccer game, refereed by Sam, in which Lucy participates as a player. In attendance are the foster family, Sam's friendship group, and a newly-single Rita with her son.

Santhanam comes as the junior to Anushka in the movie. The movie moves on with legal battles and arguments in the court.

Star Performance

Krishna will bring applause in the career of Chiyaan Vikram, another feather cap in Vikram's head. He holds the scene by evoking fun. Hardly there will be scenes where we will not turn our face from Krishna. He is there as a five year old boy from the beginning till the end of the movie. Young Sarah will create vibrations. Her onscreen chemistry with Vikram has been amazing. She will drive audience to the theatres. Anushka in a completely different role adds beauty to the movie . She is the tailored role for being an Advocate in the Movie . Her appearance and character traits will make people grasp that Anushka can wear any Character. Her performance is remarkable.

Deivathirumagal Movie Review

Mynaa fame Amala Paul needs three cheers who plays a very thorny role with a right sensitivity. Santhanam with his funny jokes makes us think and also touches the heart in emotional sequences. Nasser playing his role prefect completes the prefect casting of Vijay's movie that bought smile in millions.

Technicalities

Camera adds beauty to the movie . One picture reveals thousand word than a word, a special cheer for Nirav Shah who had rolled the camera to nook and corner bought every emotions and sensibilities in every frame. His method of soft tones adds beauty to the narration of the movie. Giving peppy value to the lyric Na Muthukaumar's lyrics got some wonderful tones which will provide strength to the movie's script. The music adds value to the script.

Director Vijay manages to extract the best form his characters as well as his technicians , where audience will be able to see the perfection in every touch. Adding the positive value to the movie Deivathirumagal will be the best in Vikram's career, excellent music by G V Prakash will make people block the tickets.
