Nothing succeeds like success there is no bigger star today than Dhanush of Kolaveri di. With his most downloaded song. The popularity of you tube singer has touched such a high that while many a leisters have invited Dhanush to their homes.

Some have even asked the award function organizer to arrange a one – on – one with the Koleveri Di man. Kolaveri is one among the top YouTube list.

According to the composer (Anirudh Ravichander), who composed this song on debut, why this Kolaveri Di means “why do you have this murderous rage against me?” On why the Kolaveri Di is called the ‘soup song’, Anirudh says “Soup is a Tamil word used for guys who go through failure in love.

Words like these are used by young guys in real life but in a song, we were introducing them. And these words have worked well for Kolaveri Di”

Even a new joke is flying around about this song guess what? “People are saying thank god singer is not rajnikanth of this song, it’s his son-in-law Dhanush. Otherwise this song could be the national anthom of India”.

Dhanush with Manmohan Singh for dinner

Dhanush at this very young age seems to overtake the top actors of Kollywood. The star who was filled with tons of praises for his National Award for Aadukalam and the rage of Why This Kolaveri Di song seems to be wondering whether all this is a dream.

Since, recently the Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh has invited the star for the state dinner. It was hosted by the PM for the Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda at his 7 Race Course Road residence in New Delhi.

But this all happened because of Dhanush's Kolaveri song says sources, even the song has reached the PM in his busy schedule it seems.

Superstar joins Anna Hazare against corruption.......

While Anna Hazare and the team paid upto 8 lakh rent for the MMRDA grounds in Mumbai for the anti corruption protest, in Chennai our superstar has offered a place at Chennai for free of cost.

This is none other than his own Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam located at Kodambakkam, Chennai. Rajinikanth who was following the steps of Anna Hazare from the beginning wished to do something from his side for him. Even though the superstar came in open that he stands against corruption, he wished to do something in personal.

IAC Central Core Committee member MS Chandramohan addressed the press 'we contacted Rajinikanth regarding the need have a place and he opened the gates of his Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam for free of cost and we feel grateful to him, he concludes.’

Genelia and Rithesh – next in the line to tie knot

After Nayanatara and Sneha, it is the turn of Genelia to tie the knot.  She is going to wed her long-time boy friend Riteish Deshmukh in a low-key affair in February next year.

An official announcement by the couple is expected soon.  Riteish, son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, is a Bollywood actor.  Genelia and Riteish have been seeing each other since their Tujhe Meri Kasam days in 2003.  Their marriage has been on the cards, but the couple chose not to make it official all along.

It is not known whether Genelia will act in films post marriage.  The actress is likely to settle down in Mumbai.

While Naa Ishtam is the only project in Telugu, Genelia has two Hindi releases - namely, Tere Naal Love Hogaya with Riteish and Rock the Shaadi with Abhay Deol, lined up for release in 2012.

Mollywood postpone releases

As the issues between the Kerala Film Exhibitors Association and the Minister for films is yet to be sort out, more and more Malayalam films are postponing their release dates. The earliest one was Mammootty's 'Venicile Vyapari' directed by Shafi, which is now shifted to the 11th of November.

The latest we hear is that  Priyadharsan's new Malayalam film after six years 'Arabiyum Ottakavum P. Madhavan Nairum' with an alternate title of 'Oru Marubhoomikatha ' is also postponed, now for the 11th of this month. This means that, if the issues related to collection of two rupees service charges are sorted out, M & M will return with their films to rule the B O, which are currently inhabited by OLF (Other Language Films), by the next weekend.

The Film exhibitors association is denying the releases of any Malayalam films till their problems are sorted out. Or else they are planning to release more Hindi, Tamil and English films which will bring in limited visitors to cinema halls.

Goverment post for Vijay's mom Shoba

Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa seems to have given a surprise gift to Vijay for the support extended by him to her party during the recently-concluded Assembly elections.

She has announced that Vijay's mother and a Classical singer Shobha Chandrasekhar will be appointed as advisor to Tamilnadu Music College. She would be part of preparing curriculum and advisor to the activities of the music college in 17 places across the State.

Shobha has rendered live music concerts and has cut many devotional and music albums.

Bhanupriya back after a hiatus

Kollywood Update:

After a break, Bhanupriya, whose eyes would always have a lot to speak, is back to stand in front of the camera. The yesteryear heartthrob will be seen playing a crucial role in a film titled 'En Peyar Kumarasamy'.

Bhanupriya says: "I was waiting for a challenging opportunity when director Rathan Chandrasekar approached me with En Peyar Kumarasamy. I found my role in this film very meaty and immediately gave my consent to be part of it," the actress says.

Bhanupriya, who was part of many super hits like 'Maharasan', 'Pangaali' and 'Azhagan', was last seen playing Dhanush's mother in 'Polladhavan'. In 'En Peyar Kumarasamy' too she is doing the role of the protagonist's mother.

Tollywood Update:

She baptized Prabhas in the graces of heroism in Chatrapathi by narrating the legend of the Maratha warrior Sivaji, who bravely fought the anti-national forces.  It seems she is back to doing the same in Dammu.  And now will be cast in the role of NTR's amma in the film by Boyapati Seenu.

Details about her role are not yet known.  One can safely guess that Dammu would have its dose of mother-son sentiment for sure. NTR emerges an acer when it comes to sentimental scenes.  His maximalist emotional portrayal is usually hair-raising. Let's hope that Bhanupriya and NTR are going to make it big as mother and son.

"I am not bothered about playing such roles as long as I get interesting opportunities," says Bhanupriya, who hopes that she would retain her fame as a talented actress in this second innings of her too.

Tamil actor LIC Narasimhan passed away

Tamil film actor  LIC Narasimhan (71), who acted in over 300 movies passed away here late last night due to cancer. He is survived by a son and a daughter.

Narasimhan shot to fame playing Rajinikanth's brother in Aarilindhu Arubathu Varai. He had acted in several films in the role of police officer and judge.

His cremation will take place tomorrow at Valasaravakkam in Chennai.

Mahesh's costumes up for auction

To help the cause of film industry and artists, the makers of Dookudu have put Mahesh Babu's costumes for auction at the Producers' Council block in the film chamber building.  The auction is being supervised by the Movie Artists' Association.

Beginning from the 18th, the costumes have been put on auction.  Says Sreenu Vytla, "We hope that someone bids for the costumes at the highest price in order to help the funding of those in dire straits."

He hopes that the auction will fetch big amounts just as the film's collections have generated huge collections.

Vijay's Velayudham messes with Surya's 7aum Arivu

Hundreds of Vijay fans protested against Chennai’s Devi Theatre management’s decision to allot the smaller screens to Velayudham.

Vijay fans holding placards and flags protested peacefully outside Devi Theatre complex.

Later they gave a letter to the theatre management that they want to screen Velayudham at one of the bigger screens, either Devi or Devi Paradise.

The bigger screens at the complex Devi and Devi Paradise have already been booked by Udhayanidhi Stalin for his Surya film 7aum Arivu.

Kareena Kapoor loves South India Film!!!

At a time when Bollywood is showing vigorous interest in adapting Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam hits, Kareena Kapoor has stated that South India is oozing with good scripts. The actress, who recently starred in the Hindi remake of Mollywood blockbuster 'Bodyguard'(which was also made in Tamil with Vijay as 'Kavalan'), has expressed in an interview that Bollywood these days is not making films as interesting as those being made down South.

This is an important endorsement, given that Kareena Kapoor hails from a family that is considered to be the first family of Indian cinema. Talking further on her film 'Bodyguard', in which she shared screen space with Salman Khan, Kareena has said that the film has been making a roaring business in the South, surpassing the records of all Hindi films till date (including 3 Idiots, according to her).

The actress's claim has a shade of truth. The film has globally grossed a whopping Rs 225 cr., which makes it the second biggest hit in the history of Indian cinema after 3 Idiots (Rs 350 cr.).

What is of value for the South Indian industry is that, it is making waves in Bollywood by influencing the latter with its varied themes and novel flicks?  If this trend continues, a day is not far when you will see many Southern directors becoming creators to reckon with in Hindi cinema.

Expecting that Kareena Kapoor will shortly enter the Kollywood. May be her good opinion help her to stand in kollywood.

'Global' honour for Rahman

Delhi based Global Indian Music Academy (GIMA) will honour AR Rahman for his contribution to the film industry, while the GIMA Award 2011 will be presented to veteran musician Dr M Balamuralikrishna.

According to the organizers, the GIMA board unanimously chose Balamuralikrishna who strode the Carnatic music world like a colossus and had been representing India abroad as a peerless cultural ambassador.

AR Rahman will be honoured in the film category, as his contribution to the cinema is immense and he had brought many laurels and awards to the country with his music talent, they said.

The GIMA awards were considered to be a coveted honour and they were presented to sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar in classical music and to Lata Mangeshkar in film music category last year.

"I am Rajini's Ekalaiva" – Ajith

Comparing his relationship with Superstar Rajinikanth with that of Ekalaiva and Dhronacharya in the great epic Mahabharata, Ajith has said he had learnt many things from the numero uno actor of Tamil cinema by watching him from distance.

"I shaped up my career on the lines of Rajini sir. Like how there was no one to support him when he made his foray in the industry, I too didn't have anyone to back me up. But I got enough inspiration from the Superstar. He is my Dhronacharya and I am his Ekalaiva," said the 'Thala'.

Saying that he would like to dedicate the success of his 50th film 'Mankatha' to Rajini, Ajith said, "At the same time, I would like to personally express my gratitude to each member of the cast and crew, who gave nothing but their best to Mankatha."

On many young actors of Tamil film industry considering him as their role model, the star, who is currently busy shooting for 'Billa 2', said, "The mere word 'thanks' is not enough to express my feelings. Honestly speaking, I don't know how to react."

Meanwhile, when a leading daily quizzed him whether he will enter politics, Ajith expressed that he strongly feels each citizen should do their duty which is more than enough. Quoted the Thala, "I act, earn, pay taxes, do the little good I can, vote and take care of my family. I expect my fans will do the same. Leave politics to the Government, they'll take care. It’s no good if everyone enters politics. We talk of corruption and bribery, but I strongly believe each Indian is responsible for this. How many of us follow basic things such as traffic rules in our lives? Let’s do our duty, even that’s as good as politics".

Salman says"I'm a great fan of Rajinikanth"........

Now the latest buzz about Rajinikanth is his bio-picture. Recently in one press meet Atul Kulkarni has mentioned recently that he is going to make a film based on the life of Rajnikanth and that Salman Khan will don Rajni’s role.

But Rajnikanth’s fans and other actors have objected to this. They had mentioned that Rajnikanth is an era and nobody will accept if anyone dons his role. On the other side Rajnikanth’s family members said that they will not permit this.

Rajnikanth’s younger daughter has mentioned that, "We are not willing to make a film on my father and moreover nobody has approached us regarding this."

While asking about this Bio-picture, Salman  Khan says that, “I am not acting in the bio-picture of Rajnikanth. I am doubtful whether his fans will accept this. I don’t want to earn the animosity of them. Apart from this I am an ardent fan of Rajnikanth. I don’t want to become Rajnikanth. In Indian cinema, there is only one Rajnikanth and one Salman Khan."

Ajith wants to fight with Rajini!!!!

Ajith has expressed his longtime wish- that he wants to play villain in a film starring Superstar Rajinikanth. "It should be a dreaded baddie role and I should be beaten like anything by Rajini sir. This is my lifetime ambition," says the Thala.

The actor, who had played a role with negative shades in 'Mankatha', adds: "It would be a great delight to work with Rajini sir. And it would be doubly so if I could get the villain's role in one of his forthcoming films."

Interestingly, it has apparently been Ajith's penchant to do characters with negative shades. He had done it before in 'Vaalee', 'Villain', 'Attagasam' and 'Varalaru', with the highlight being his 50th film 'Mankatha', in which he was seen in a full-fledged negative role- that of a man who would do anything for money.

Meanwhile, the 'Thala' is busy shooting for 'Billa 2' in Goa and is said to be satisfied with the working style of director Chakri Toleti. A couple of days ago, Ajith announced that he might retain his salt-pepper looks post 'Billa 2' and would concentrate on doing characters that suit his age.

Tax hike hits Kollywood........

The state Government passed a bill yesterday (Sept. 14) according to which the Entertainment Tax has been hiked by 100%. This rule also included the DTH suppliers to pay 30% tax. As a new initiative the Indian Premier League matches too have been bitten by the tax bug.

According to this bill theatre owners in the state will end up paying exactly double of the tax of what was being paid already. While theatres coming under the municipalities and the corporations were paying 15% tax so far, hence forth they will pay 30%. As far as the panchayats are considered they will hence forth be paying 20% while earlier it was only 10%.

The real brunt of this hike will be suffered by people who do small-budget films. But this tax hike will not affect the ticket rates so public are safe, but it will affect the profit percentage received by the theatre owners and producers so far. It has also been clearly mentioned by the government that the tickets rates will not be increased.

This news has come as a blow to the producers as well as exhibitors at a time when there is a lot of chaos at the TFPC already. Some of the producers and exhibitors are planning to meet the CM and request her to reconsider her decision regarding the ET (Entertainment Tax).

National Film Awards - 58th year presented!!!

Kollywood hogged all the limelight at the 58th National awards that were presented at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi by President Prathiba Patil on Friday. Veteran filmmaker K Balachander received the presitgious Dada Saheb Phalke Award while films like Aadukalam and Thenmerku Parvuva Kattru bagged all honours.

All the awards for the technicians were given away first, and then the biggies followed. Veteran lyricist and poet Vairamuthu collected the award for Thenmaerkku Paruvakkatru for best lyricist for the song Kallikattu Thayae.

Dhanush sat alongside Saranya Ponvannan, as he collected the best actor's award for his performance in Aadukalam while Saranaya bagged the best actress trophy for her performance in Thenmerkku Paruvakattru.

Tamil Cinema totally won 14 awards that includes a couple for Endhiran.

‘SRI RAMARAJYAM’ IS NAYAN’S LAST: PRABHU DEVA

Choreographer, producer and director Prabhu Deva on Friday told mediamen in Chennai that he is soon to announce his wedding date. He also stated that his fiancée Nayanatara will not act post-marriage and Balakrishna starrer Sri Ramarajyam is her last. His statement thus has put an end to the numerous rumors about the actress’ chances for acting after entering the wedlock. 

The couple is said to tie the knot and Mumbai and throw a reception at the same place, for which their friend and actor-producer-director Prakash Raj is serving as wedding planner. Prabhu Deva is currently making Vedi with Vishal-Sameera Reddy and Rowdy Rathore with Akshay Kumar.

Sameera Reddy replaces Anushka in Vishwaroopam

Kamal Haasan decides to make a mammoth film; the fates conspire against him and jinx the project. Earlier he announced about ‘Marudanayagam’, which failed to see the light of day. Now his latest Vishwaroopam also keeps floundering in a sea of trouble. 

Kamal Haasan finished the first schedule of Vishwaroopam and the team is ready to shoot in Jordan for the second schedule. Anushka was supposed to join them but she has walked out from the project due to her insufficient call sheets. So,  Kamal has decided to rope in Sameera Reddy who was one of the original choices for the role. Hope this time around the jinx which seems to be surrounding the film is lifted.

Anushka's walking out of her projects is quite often happening now-a-days...First out of Telugu movie "Rebel" with great hero Prabhas in a big banner movie and now with the great hero Kamal Hassan. The answer to these whys can be answered only by Anushka, though it is said as call sheet problems when she is having very few movies in hand??????????!!!!!!!!!!

No new films from tomorrow...............

Sending shock waves in film circles, the producers have decided not to allow the start of any new movie from September 7 (Thursday), alleging that the Film Employees Federation of South India had been demanding exorbitant wages, which are practically not possible.

‘It has been unanimously decided that from September 7 onwards, no new films will be commenced in all four southern languages,’ Kalyan, president of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, told reporters in Chennai Monday evening .

Most producers in all the four southern states are against the steep hike in wages demanded by the employees. SIFCC secretary Anandha Suresh said, 'We were holding talks with FEFSI for the last two months, but in vain. We are ready to hike their wages by 10 to 28 per cent but they didn’t budge an inch'.
