Kareena wax statue unveiled

As per the earlier announcement, Kareena Kapoor’s much talked about wax statue was unveiled on October 27 amidst much media glare. Finally the suspense on her look was made public with her unveiled statue.

Kareena’s illustrious svelte look in the famous track ‘Mauja Hi Mauja’ from her blockbuster film ‘Jab we Met’ was the chosen one for her immortalization as a statue in Madame Tussauds wax museum, London. Kareena was accompanied by her mother Babita as neither her beau Saif Ali Khan nor her sister Karisma Kapoor was able to make it to the event.

Kareena is the second Bollywood actress after Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to be bestowed with the coveted honor. She stated that at personal level it her proudest moment and she was happy that she could be yet another honor for her country.

Kareena shares the space with other Indian stars like Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Sachin Tendulkar. The launch of her statue also embarked the exhibition of a special Bollywood room which has been created within Madame Tussauds Blackpool.

Aamir enquires about SRK’s ‘Ra.One’

Just hours before ‘Ra.One’s release, Aamir Khan in one of his press conferences then had praised Shah Rukh Khan’s magnum opus film. He stated that he was very impressed with the promos of the film and was highly awed by SRK’s magnetic marketing for his film. 

He had then quoted that he was aware of SRK’s hard work and efforts that was pumped in the film and hence announced that he wants the film to do really well so that the money and efforts were paid off. And it seems that his wishes really worked in SRK’s favor as the film ‘Ra.One’ raked in approximately Rs. 50 crores in a span of just two days flat. Aamir who left for London while ‘Ra.One’ was on the verge to hit screens, was inquisitive to learn about ‘Ra.One’s collection.

When he was busy shooting for his film on foreign soil, reportedly he at regular intervals was also keeping tabs on ‘Ra.One’s collections and was in touch with many trade experts in India just to get first hand information on its box-office report.

'OKOK' teaser creates hype

Director Rajesh seems to have mastered the technique of striking a chord with teasers itself. After 'Ovvuru manushanukkum ovvuru feeling...' in 'Siva Manasula Sakthi' and 'Nanbendaa...' in 'Boss Engira Baskaran', the 'Vaaliba vayodhiga anbargaley...' opening line in the teaser of his forthcoming film 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi' has become an instant hit.

Within no time the teaser was released, it spread like a wild fire on social networking sites and garnered more number of likes and comments, with net-izens saying that the teaser had increased their expectations on the film. "We are eagerly expecting the movie," they say.

Starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Hansika Motwani and Santhanam in lead roles, 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi', produced by Red Giant Movies, has music by Harris Jayaraj. A rom-com, OKOK will come with the unique stamp of Rajesh whose films are a huge draw among today's youngsters.

This is the director's third film and his second movie 'Boss Engira Baskaran', which was premiered on a popular television channel on Deepavali day, was enjoyed by many, especially the young and the teens, as rains prevented them from going out to fire crackers.

Hollywood villain in 'MUK'

Roping in talents from other countries seems to have become a trend in Kollywood. Close on the heels of '7aum Arivu' (the villain is from China) and 'Velayudham' (which has stunts by a Hollywood choreographer), here comes 'Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal'.

Directed by Elred Kumar, one of the producers of 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' and 'Ko', the film which has Atharva and Amala Paul in lead roles will have Zaved, who was part of Hollywood films like'Hangover 2', playing the baddie.

"Atharva finds the love of his life in Amala Paul. Even as things are going smooth, an unexpected happening changes everything. The young actor is working out for six packs for Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal," says the director.

Dismissing rumours that Atharva and Amala Paul became lovers in real life thanks to working together in this film, Kumar says, "They are good colleagues and the chemistry between them in this film will be great. This is all that I can say."

Bhanupriya back after a hiatus

Kollywood Update:

After a break, Bhanupriya, whose eyes would always have a lot to speak, is back to stand in front of the camera. The yesteryear heartthrob will be seen playing a crucial role in a film titled 'En Peyar Kumarasamy'.

Bhanupriya says: "I was waiting for a challenging opportunity when director Rathan Chandrasekar approached me with En Peyar Kumarasamy. I found my role in this film very meaty and immediately gave my consent to be part of it," the actress says.

Bhanupriya, who was part of many super hits like 'Maharasan', 'Pangaali' and 'Azhagan', was last seen playing Dhanush's mother in 'Polladhavan'. In 'En Peyar Kumarasamy' too she is doing the role of the protagonist's mother.

Tollywood Update:

She baptized Prabhas in the graces of heroism in Chatrapathi by narrating the legend of the Maratha warrior Sivaji, who bravely fought the anti-national forces.  It seems she is back to doing the same in Dammu.  And now will be cast in the role of NTR's amma in the film by Boyapati Seenu.

Details about her role are not yet known.  One can safely guess that Dammu would have its dose of mother-son sentiment for sure. NTR emerges an acer when it comes to sentimental scenes.  His maximalist emotional portrayal is usually hair-raising. Let's hope that Bhanupriya and NTR are going to make it big as mother and son.

"I am not bothered about playing such roles as long as I get interesting opportunities," says Bhanupriya, who hopes that she would retain her fame as a talented actress in this second innings of her too.

Prakashraj comes down heavily on actors

Prakashraj has said that actors had failed to make any contribution to Tamil cinema in the last 10 years."None of the actors, including me, added value to the industry in the last one decade. This is the bitter truth," he said.

"But Tamil cinema is still respected outside Tamil Nadu because of new directors, who are shining bright with their talent. From script writers to music composers, everyone is trying something new, except actors," he was quoted as saying by a Tamil weekly.

Prakashraj, who is currently directing a film titled 'Dhoni', further lamented:  "Audience should also take responsibility for this. Actors, rather than getting angry against me, should do their work sincerely beyond business borders. "

On 'Dhoni', he said, "My daughter is in 10th standard now and the pressure on her is too much. Life is not just about studies alone. There is lot more than that. Life is beautiful and that's what Dhoni is all about. Ilayaraja is giving shape to my dream."

Vijay, a James Bond in 'Yohan'............

Gautham Vasudev Menon is doing four projects at a time - 'Neethane En Ponvasantham', which he is simultaneously making in three languages (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi), and the Hindi remake of 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya', titled 'Ek Dhivana Dha'.

After completing these films, he will move on to 'Yohan Adhyayam Ondru', his first venture with Vijay. "Some rumour mills have it that Gautham is toying with the idea of coming out with a movie every two years in this series, like Yohan Adhyayam Irandu and Yohan Adhyayam Moondru but the director has remained tight-lipped about these.

"Vijay plays an international agent in this flick," Gautham says and adds: "Yohan Adhyayam Ondru will deal with one of the assignments he does in a foreign country. It will chronicle two months of the protagonist's life."

On what made him to join hands with the Ilayathalapathy, Gautham says, "We both wanted to work together for a long time, but things didn't take shape.  This time we were sure not to miss the opportunity and made an announcement on Yohan."

Story of 'Vazhakku En 18/9'

Balaji Sakthivel, the 'Kadhal' and 'Kalloori' director is finally ready with his new venture, titled 'Vazhakku En 18/9'. "It is not a new story. But the audience should decide whether I have attempted to tell it in a new way," he says.

Shedding light on the film's story, he says, "Four different persons are interrogated in a same case. The film starts with the Police Inspector's angle and will proceed when every one of them tell their own view. I have made certain experiments."

Expressing gratitude to producers Lingusamy and Subash Chandra Bose, Balaji Sakthivel says, "They understood very well my idea to show things in a different manner and gave me a free hand.  Only because of them the film has become possible."

The movie which has newcomers Sri, Urmila, Mithun Murali, Manisha Yadav, Muthuraman and Chinnasamy in crucial roles was shot using a still camera by cinematographer Vijay Milton. Music is by Prasanna, an IIT pass out, who composed music for the Oscar winning 'Smile Pinky'.

Allu Arjun-Trivikram reduced remuneration

It is known that Stylish Star Allu Arjun and Trivikram Srinivas are working together for a film to be produced by Danayya. Ileana is playing female lead and Devi Sri Prasad is scoring music for this film. The film is expected to go onto the sets soon.

There is no doubt that Trivikram is a great director but when it comes to over budget and production delays he stands first among the current lot. To overcome such reputation, the director has decided to slash his remuneration for the sake of this film’s producer.

It is learnt that it was Allu Arjun who has reduced his remuneration first which eventually paved way for Trivikram to do so. Not only that, Trivikram is also coming up with a bounded script for this film for the first time. This not only saves the time but also the production cost for the producer. He is also planning to make producer Danayya happy by making the film in very less span unlike his previous films.

If this is true, then the producer may witness table profit for this film much before its release. Looks like, this transformation is for sure is going to set new benchmark in Tollywood in the forthcoming days.

Ram Charan-Upasana engagement venue changed

The latest update is that the engagement venue of Mega Power Star Ram Charan and Upasana Kamineni has been changed from Domakonda Fort. According to our sources, the engagement ceremony is likely to take place at Upasana’s farm house near Chilkur Balaji Temple on December 1.

Though the reason for the change is not known, our sources hint that the elders of the family are planning to host a grand reception at the Domakonda fort instead of engagement. We are guessing that the pending works at the place are not completed as yet.

Recently, Chiranjeevi couple invited Governor Narasimhan for the engagement ceremony. They are going to extend invitations to several celebrities of Tollywood soon after Ram Charan returns from Dharmashala.

Jackie Chan's '1911' coming on Nov 11

Jackie Chan starer new movie '1911' is getting ready to hit the screens on November 11. Amar and V.Girish producing this movie jointly on Studio N and 3K Entertainments Banners. This is the dubbed version of chan's china film '1911'.

The film is a Honour to the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution in China. It is also Jackie Chan's 100th film in his career. Besides starring in it, Jackie Chan is also the executive producer and director of the film. Co-stars include Chan's son Jaycee Chan, Li Bingbing, Winston Chao, Joan Chen and Hu Ge.

'1911' was released on 23 September 2011 in China and on 29 September 2011 in Hong Kong. Now it is releasing on November 11th in India in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and English.

Tamil actor LIC Narasimhan passed away

Tamil film actor  LIC Narasimhan (71), who acted in over 300 movies passed away here late last night due to cancer. He is survived by a son and a daughter.

Narasimhan shot to fame playing Rajinikanth's brother in Aarilindhu Arubathu Varai. He had acted in several films in the role of police officer and judge.

His cremation will take place tomorrow at Valasaravakkam in Chennai.

The director of Suriya’s latest movie 7am Arivu AR Murugadoss has arranged a special show for Ulaganayagan Kamal Hassan yesterday. The actor’s elder daughter Shruti Hassan plays the female lead in the film.

On the other hand, producer of the film Udayanidhi Stalin invited Super Star Rajinikanth for a special show and the big hearted star obliged the producer’s request. It is learnt that Rajini liked the film a lot and had a long chat with Suriya after the movie. The movie received mixed reviews from the audience.

'Oh My Friend' Overseas by BlueSky

Osthi star Simbu is ready with six packs!!!

The climax of Osthi is being shot in Chennai. Interestingly   it would be a fighting sequence between Simbu and villain Sonu Sood.

Simbu will flaunt six-pack abs for the scene and he would rip off his shirt and shoot for the sequences. Simbu had hit the gym hard and developed six pack abs for the scene.

Osthi is a remake of Hindi hit Dabbang. If Salman Khan was Chulbul Pandey in Dabbang, Simbu plays Osthi Velan in Tamil version. Richa Gangopadhyaya plays his heroine. Simbu said that he worked hard to get six pack abs for 30 days and his fans will enjoy it.

Directed by Dharani, the movie would be released soon.

Vijay on Velayudam's success.....

Thrilled at the bumper opening for his Deepavali release Velayudham, actor Vijay chose to thank his fans, well-wishers and cast and crew of the movie.

Speaking at the success meet held in Chennai on Friday, Vijay said, 'the movie was a wholesome entertainer and I thoroughly enjoyed doing it'.

Director M Raja and producer Aascar V Ravichandran contributed their best and the movie has now made it big.

To a query on whether he was following the MGR formula in his movies, he said, 'it is a success formula and there is no wrong in following it. Everyone would love to go that way'.

He said Velayudham occupies a special place in my heart. The whole unit worked very hard and the result is there to be seen on the screen.

On his forthcoming films, he said, 'My Nanban will release for Pongal. It would be followed by a movie with Gautham Menon. Regarding Murugadoss' film, an official announcement will be made soon'.

This commercial entertainer by UTV Motion Pictures and Thirupathi Brothers has Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in the lead roles with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. While Maddy and Arya play brothers, Sameera and Amala play sisters in this offering by Lingusamy who knows commercial cinema like the back of his hand.

Madhavan and Arya look great as brothers in the posters itself, thanks to their wonderful off-screen chemistry; well what else can one expect when two charmers get together!

The poster with the four leads showcasing Madhavan-Sameera's wedding and Arya and Maddy in traditional veshtis aka dhotis portray the film is a family entertainer while the other posters showcase the suave avatar of the duo, as a police man and a jolly-go-lucky youngster.

'Vettai' is touted to release on December 23, for the Christmas holidays.

Vijay's favourite dialogue in 'Velayudham'

'Velayudham', as claimed by Vijay and director 'Jayam' M Raja, is a full-fledged commercial entertainer, which would portray the Ilayathalapathy as a super hero. So there is no escaping from punch dialogues, which are aimed at enthusing the masses.

When asked Vijay as to what his favourite punch line in the film is, he said, "There is a particular scene in which I would say at a baddie 'Chummavey kaattu kaattu nu kaattuven, nee vera kaattu kaattunu solra... kaataati nallava irukkum.' I liked these lines very much."

Explaining the reason, the actor said, "I loved doing this scene and uttering the dialogue since it suited to my nature and attitude. I am hopeful that my fans would enjoy it too. The entire film will be a complete Diwali treat to them and I am sure about it."

Produced by Aascar V Ravichandran, 'Velayudham' is releasing in a record number of theatres on Wednesday. "Raja has shaped up the film in such a way that it would make the audience think. It is not just a masala movie, but a good film with an important message."

Gautham Menon speaks about Vijay's "Yohan Athiyayam Ondru"

Gautham Menon is busy completing the shooting of Nee Thanae En Ponvasantham starring Jeeva and Samantha. Soon he would start Yohan Athiyayam Ondru.

Throwing light on the movie, he says, 'it is an international film with a international theme. Vijay and I were planning to come together for a long time and it eventually worked out now'.

It would be a different film and Vijay plays an international agent. So impressed with the storyline that Rahman immediately composed tunes for the movie, he adds.

Asked about the title, he says, ' we titled it as Yohan Athiyayam Ondru for we have plans to start a sequel sometime later for it'.

While there were rumours about Richa Gangopadhyay playing heroine in the Prabhas-Rajamouli movie, it now seems that Richa is confirmed to play main female lead opposite Prabhas in his upcoming film in the Direction of Koratala Siva. Richa is now doing two tamil films with Simbhu (Osthi - Tamil remake of Dabanng) & Dhanush (Mayakkam Enna). She also is said to have bagged the heroine role in a hindi film to be directed by Tamil Director Susi Ganesan (of Kandasamy/Mallanna fame). Seems like it's raining offers for Richa.

UV Creations will produce this film which go to floors in November end for a small schedule. Richa will have two very different looks in the film.

When is 'Nanban' music launch?

Now that director Shankar has confirmed on his blog that the shoot of his forthcoming film 'Nanban' is 100 per cent complete and the Vijay-Jiiva-Srikanth starrer would make it to cinema halls for Pongal, a guessing game is on as to when would be the film's audio will release.

When we probed, inside sources expressed that a mega music launch function is being planned in Chennai by the last week of November. "It will be a grand show in which top guns of Tamil cinema will mark their presence. Cultural programs will also be there," they said.

"Harris Jayaraj, who had earlier worked with Shankar in 'Anniyan', has come out with beautiful songs. All the songs in the film have the quality to emerge chartbusters, as they are composed in such a way that it would strike an instant chord among the youngsters," they added.

Produced by Gemini Film Circuit, 'Nanban', a remake of Hindi hit '3 Idiots’, is currently in its post production stage. Shankar, known for crafting his films with the precision of a goldsmith, is said to be working overtime for 'Nanban', for this is his first remake project.

Vijay's most daring stunts till date in 'Velayudham'!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's fans are waiting with baited breadth for the release of their thalaivar's 'Velayudham'. Reported to be the costliest ever Vijay starrer, the movie produced by Aascar Ravichandran has few never seen before high-octane stunt sequences choreographed by Hollywood stunt master Tom Delmar.

Tom has worked in some of the Hollywood action films like 'Aliens', 'Snatch' and '102 Dalmatians' among others. The highlight includes a hair rising on-top of the train action block. Apart from which, Vijay in an interview with media recently expressed about another power-packed stunt, a fight shot inside the Chennai harbor.

Now the hot news is that Vijay has performed some of the highly risky stunts without a body double! The train fight was shot for 11 days in Vizag with Vijay taking on the baddie Abhimanyu Singh of 'Rakta Charitra' fame who is making his Tamil debut.

Tom who was literally astonished with the way Vijay works says, "His energy levels are very high. Some of the fight scenes designed was very tough and dangerous and I and director Raja insisted that we use a substitute. But Vijay was very adamant that he would do it by himself and used to rehearse for hours together. He is so dedicated that he wouldn't mind performing more takes till he gets perfection".

Director Vijay busy penning script

Taking a short break after the critically acclaimed 'Deiva Thirumagal', director Vijay is back at work. His next will feature Vikram again in the lead role, and he is busy penning script for it.

"I am currently in Coimbatore, writing the script for my forthcoming venture with Vikram. It will be a high voltage action thriller, which will keep the audience on the edge of their seat," says Vijay.

The maker of films such as 'Kireedam', 'Poi Solla Porom' and 'Madarasapattinam' adds: "I am happy to join hands with Vikram once again. He is an actor par excellence and is ready to go to any extent to bring out the best from him."

Anushka and Amy Jackson are said to be the heroines of the movie, which is expected to be shot completely in the United States. "It is about a man who forgets his past and is in search of it," sources say.

Vimal's next is 'Neerparavaigal'

'Kalavani' hero Vimal is riding on a positive way. He is currently acting in two films- 'Ishtam' and 'Athanaikkum Aasaipadu'. Besides, he has signed a new project, titled 'Neerparavaigal'.

To be directed by national award winning filmmaker Seenu Ramasamy, the movie will be produced by high profile producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, grandson of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

"Neerparavaigal is a film that revolves around the lives of fishermen in Nagapattinam district. It will be an emotional tale which would speak about their travails on sea and the sand," says the director.

Seenu Ramasamy has roped in popular writer Jeyamohan to pen the screenplay and dialogues. "The movie would hit the floors soon. An official announcement will be made at the earliest," the filmmaker informs.

Vijay, Valee in Osthi audio launch

Finally the audio of Silambarasan's 'Osthi' was launched and with much fanfare. The audio launch took place on October 19 and Ilayathalapathy Vijay was the surprise chief guest at the event, who launched the audio which received by Valee, lyricist. The movie, a remake of Hindi hit Dabbang, features Silambarasan and Richa in the lead roles. Directed by Dharani, the movie has music by S Thaman.

At the audio launch, all the songs from the Osthi album were played by live orchestra led by Thaman.  Silambarasan also appeared on stage and sang Cute Pondatti, penned by him for the film.

While Simbu aka STR was dressed in his 'Osthi' getup, of a cop, Richa was spotted in a bright red saree whereas Vijay was seen in his casual best. The event was graced by various other celebs apart from the cast and crew, including KS Ravikumar, Vijaykumar, Bhagyaraj, Kalaipuli Dhanu, Nassar, Myilsamy, Jai, Vaibhav, Mahat, Premgi and many others. Vijay donated money to blind children at the event and the show was hosted by Jagan along with another anchor.

Various programs were performed on stage including Simbu singing the 'Pondatti...' track for the gathered, a song he penned and crooned in the album. Whereas his father, T Rajendar entertained audiences with his mimicry and playback singers sang songs from the film...

After the event, speaking on the launch Simbu commented, "Osthi audio launch was a huge success, thanks to all my fans for making it special and Ilayathalapathy Vijay Anna for coming down, knowing the fact that I am an agmark Thala fan! Shows how stars should be! I hope my fans love all the songs".

Rajinikanth in Tirupati, offer prayers

Having recovered well from his kidney ailment, Super Star Rajinikanth chose to go to Tirupati hill shrine and offer prayers to Lord Balaji with his family.

'Super Star' was accompanied by his wife Latha, daughters Soundarya and Aishwarya, son-in-laws Dhanush and Ashwin and grandsons. Latha Rajnikanth tonsured her head as thanksgiving for the Almighty for the actor recovering from his illness.

As a staunch devotee of Lord Balaji, Rajinikanth always makes it a point to pay a pilgrimage to Tirupathi at frequent intervals.  Later thulabaram was performed for Rajinikanth. When he went to seek the Lord's blessings this time, he offered to Lord 75 kilos of sugar candy, which is equal to his weight.

 

The arrangement was looked after by Telugu actor Mohan Babu in Tirupathy. Mohan Babu spent time together in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.  They had entered the temple through the bio-metric gate.

 

Later, speaking to the media, Rajini said :  “I am thankful to all my fans who prayed for me while I was undergoing treatment. By the grace of God, I am fine now and took part in the shoot of Ra-One. Doctors advised me to rest for another three months before I resume shooting for Rana. This is a thanksgiving visit to the Lord. My Deepavali wishes to all,” Mr Rajni said, looking cool and composed.

Special poojas were performed and Vedic hymns were rendered for good health of the actor.

Surya's much awaited movie 7am Arivu, which is all set to grace theatres on October 26, has received tremendous pre booking response in Chennai. The advanced reservation for Surya starring 7am Arivu began on October 19, 2011 and almost all the theatres are fully booked for the next five days.

7am Arivu is a science-fiction thriller in which Surya plays a double role: a circus artist and Buddhist monk. Shruti Haasan plays as a Scientist, who invented Time machine. This film is being dubbed in Telugu and Hindi. 7am Arivu releasing with more than 1000 prints.

Surya spotted in the 7am Arivu in the last 20 minutes as a Buddhist monk. Songs are rocking and ringing in all mobile. Expectation increases because of all this happenings. Let’s wait and see…

Allu Arjun: A decade of style

 

Allu Arjun has been a sure entertainer in Telugu cinema.  Did we know that he has completed a decade already?  He has.

From the time he debuted in Gangotri where he played a bucolic lover boy in the Raghavendra Rao directorial, he has evolved as a mini style icon.  While Arya made him an undeniable youngster of Tollywood, Happy showed to the world his ease at gelling with the lady lead.

His sense of fashion doubled his appeal.  The experimentation with his hair look in Desamuduru opened new vistas for him.  He would later repeat the feat in Arya2, which stands out as the best performance by the actor till date.
